COMEDY could be the latest weapon against crime if people follow the trouble-diffusing example of the Fringe's only mobile comedy cab.

When a mass brawl involving about ten young men broke out in the Grassmarket, they were stopped in their tracks by the sound of the Rocky theme music blaring out of the Discocars vehicle parked nearby.

Punches were halted as the bewildered mob listened to DJ Minicab's running commentary on the fight with his megaphone, saying: "I've seen better fighting at Mothercare."

The police moved in and the show continued on its way.
